Also, with the new name came the new website http://www.tensioncore.org!
The new website will be home to the free services of Tensioncore Design Studios, while tensioncore.com remains the home of all paid services.
Servers Ready!
|
Posted By: **Nickk** on December 29, 2008. 10:35 Our Servers are now 100% ready for hosting, and in addition to our recent addition of Ram, our primary web server is now faster too!.
Primary goals effective January 1st are to promote the business, and gain clients.
Secondary goals are to put in place extensive hardware upgrades, including a second web server, capable of multiple virtual servers running simultaneously (not that our current one cant, just be able to run MORE!).
More updates on the way! Spread the word of Tensioncore Web Hosting!
Tensioncore Mobile
|
Posted By: **Nickk** on November 19, 2008. 6:46 We are proud to announce the launch of Tensioncore Mobile at http://m.tensioncore.com (.ca as well)!
The website is for those who have discovered Tensioncore by means of internet search on their mobile phones and devices.
The full website, when viewed on a mobile device will automatically send you to the mobile version.
90% + Compatibility!
|
Posted By: **Nickk** on November 10, 2008. 1:23 We've finally gained compatibility across all browsers! The old Portal menu has now been replaced by our new navigation based on the existing website design.
There was a big problem with the source we previously wrote, in that it wouldn't display properly on Internet Explorer, BUT only when it was nested within a Table, otherwise it worked fine.
This is great as we've had many complaints on the issue, and worked for a long time to fix it. It is also great on the SEO side of things, as the new links are in the head of the page as well as completely text/readable by all browsers.
Our next big goal for the website is to incorporate more AJAX features.
Ready to take on the world!
|
Posted By: **Nickk** on October 17, 2008. 9:01 The ordering process on the website is now complete!
I've been working my butt off for 3 days now to get a secure and precise ordering form working, and with success, we can now process PayPal orders for all hosting orders made on the website!
The only thing we need to tie the knot for now is the Client-Area, otherwise, for most Clients the hosting as it is, is more than good enough!
We're going to have a staff party to celebrate the near completion of tensioncore.com this weekend, as well as outline major projects for the future in order to better serve our web Hosting!
So look out World! Tensioncore Web Hosting is going to take you by storm!
Cheers.
Coming along as planned
|
Posted By: **Nickk** on October 10, 2008. 11:53 Everything is going according to planned right now, and I'm personally very happy with things.
There are some minor services we need to work on, these such things being:
-Email Admin (for L4 hosting)
-The webmail we are working on has been taken off the website, and we're continuing to work on it offline to fix some fairly notable issues, otherwise version 3 is online right now, and the new Version 4.3 will be online sometime this month if all goes well.
-We're going to take the Virtual Dedicated hosting down until further notice, in order to better suit the current web server. As well we are in the process of evaluating various virtual Servers.
-And last, but not least, our final major project is going to be completed; The Client Area.
The Client Area is going to be a web based information portal for all of our clients to use to see such information as: The amount of time remaining on their hosting plan(s), their package extras (as well as associated features), The Email Admin (if Email accounts are in their plan), support forms to get prompt support and much more information regarding accounts (Please Note: absolutely no addresses/money/personal information will be stored online)
Up and running!
|
Posted By: **Nickk** on September 8, 2008. 10:49 The past week has been very hectic in the office! With the new website design up, it's been adding fuel to my motivation to improve the website and everything possible to do with the business and getting it on the ground running!
I've successfully tested all of the features of our web hosting now, except for the Virtual Dedicated features! I will post a list of files run off of the server to demonstrate all of our supported features probably in the middle of the month.
For now I'm ready to go all out with this and start advertising! Firstly though I want to update the ordering process to more of a shopping cart style, as to make it as simple as possible!
Please if you are reading this, and you have feedback on our progress, don't hesitate to send it from the contact form!
Look forward to another update very shortly!
Version 6: Tensioncore Adminsitration Services
|
Posted By: **Nickk** on September 4, 2008. 10:56 Well, it's been almost a year since October 2007, and we're now on version 6 of the website!
Welcome the new look, and features!
This is a big step for us, and well it actually represents a lot of change with how we are managing everything as well as the incorporation of all our new services including Tensioncore Design and Tensioncore Contracting!
Tensioncore Game Studio has a refined team now, since losing a few members. The video game development has also been effected by the new managing of everything.
As per usual the entire website has been built using only Notepad, and Photoshop CS2. The Portal has long-been effected by not working in Internet Explorer, and we sincerely regret this problem for those using IE. Be assured we are working on getting it to work in a multi-table environment (which is the problem currently).
We are also going to implement a New PayPal payment system within a couple of months. We are looking at PayPal's new Express Checkout.
Another area of Tensioncore being effected by our new managing is the Tensioncore Server Platform. I've had a very busy summer, and with the running around, my full time job as a carpenter, as well as a two week vacation to Seattle, I've been shooting a lot of ideas around to improve Tensioncore, and NOW is the time that they are being implemented.
Tensioncore is now Tensioncore Administration Services, a mother company to all-services-Tensioncore.
Hosting Update
|
Posted By: **Nickk** on May 12, 2008. 11:36 By now, our site has been online for 7 months (in 2 more days). We've seen the likes of PageRank already, dozens of Search Engines, and the topic of various forum communities.
The News today is that Our Site is nearly ready for going live! This is a huge step for me personally, and especially for Tensioncore!
Our steps were big in the beginning, and very coordinated, starting with the website design you see today, and running the site off of our IP address. No more than a few weeks later we registered our Domain Tensioncore.com, and made the point we're ready for some serious business!
The site is an on-going project that has dynamically grown to it's almost-finished state as it is now. I am proud to announce we will be registering Tensioncore.ca as of our Official website launch of professional web hosting on Windows Server 2008!
The launch is expected to be in late August of this year, with a few minor, as well as major features to be finished off, these including: the Support Section, a re-designing of the Packages section, and the most important part of the website, the payment methods implemented via detailed PayPal payment pages and methods.
Windows Server 2008 Launch Event
|
Posted By: on March 5, 2008. 1:47 So I attended the Microsoft Heroes Happen {here} event yesterday, and walked away with a heap load more of knowledge on subjects I thought I already knew most about. I've been Beta Testing Windows Server 2008 since it was called Windows Server (c) Codename "Longhorn"...so needless to say I've seen it's in and outs all the way until its launch just last month.
They supplied attendees with a Full Version of Windows Vista Ultimate SP1 (which by the way was only released a couple weeks ago). As well as this full version of Vista was a Full License version of Visual Studio 2008, and about 3 Copies of Windows Server 2008 Enterprise (x86, x64, and with Hyper-V*TM).
There was an entire list of Vendors sponsoring the show also giving away free full version software (read it, no limit, no trial: FULL VERSION), Some of these vendors included Quest Software, Avanade, Intel, AMD, the Vista team (of course), Dell, HP, just to name some of them.
Personally, I walked away with the full Bag of Microsoft goodies, which definitely enlightened my position in Tensioncore. I also snagged some Quest Management software for Windows Server 2008.
In any case, We're a long way off from getting the Hosting on the road, and out of our "Beta" stage... This being said Free hosting is going to stay as long as we are Beta.
Any support we can get would be majorly appreciated, and definitely made known. By Support, we mean anything, IT Pro support, PHP Developers, ASP Developers, money of course... For money contributions we will advertise free for you or your business, as well as provide free full feature web hosting, and/or even Business Infrastructure, just as a sign of gratitude for your support.
For more information about anything in this news post, please use the forms on our Contact Us page.
Tell your friends!
|
Posted By: **Nickk** on February 17, 2008. 2:48 We had a very lacking turn out for our Beta Hosting...most applicants came from word of mouth from people we know.
In early March we plan on setting up advertising campaigns on Adwords as well as with Neverblue Ads.
From My point of view we are ready to take on the web hosting, and this is why I've made the decision to start Web Advertising, it will cost for sure, but it's to start making the money.
As with many websites, or any business in general, word of mouth is often what gets things going, so if you are reading this, please go find someone and tell them about Tensioncore Web Hosting! Even if they don't own a computer, or don't want a website, they might go tell someone else.
With this change of plans to enter online advertising, as well as local advertising in Vancouver, we are going to extend the Free Hosting offer until further notice.
Web Hosting
|
Posted By: **Nickk** on January 17, 2008. 5:34 Our Free Beta web hosting is a go!
The application page will be live until February 29th 2008, and all selected users (there shouldn't be any NOT selected) will get 50MB storage, a virtually unlimited MySQL database, and all the features of our hosting for Free for 6 months.
The Hosting Features: PHP 5.2, ASP.NET (1.1, 2, 3.5), Python support, Perl/CGI support, PHPmyadmin UI for your MySQL databases and 1GB of bandwidth. All sites hosted on Windows Server 2008 RC1 on our in suite rackmount server hardware.
This is a great offer, catch it while you can!
Virtual Machine Hosting
|
Posted By: **Nickk** on January 29, 2008. 7:05 Even though we've been all about using Microsoft Windows Server for our hosting, We've decided we're going to experiment with Virtual PC (for Windows of course haha), but we're currently testing various Ubuntu distos...and some others...We're going to test Slackware Linux on our old Tower server as well...
This means for you guys, possible discount hosting...on top hardware...or even Virtual Dedicated Hosting.
Bored.

Posted By: Colt_38 on January 8, 2008. 9:55 So another little update..
Nick, Kenny and I have been working like mad at our separate "real" jobs over the holidays.. all around full time, if not more.
While this means awesome paychecks. Its also meant that basically no work has been getting done here, so for that I have to apologise... We'll get things back on track soon though!
And in other news, I feel like a little promotion of my two favourite web comics:
Least I Could Do: http://www.licd.com
and
Looking For Group: http://www.lfgcomic.com
Both are written by the same people and both are hilarious. Check them out! :)
Merry Christmas!

New Gallery
|
Posted By: **Nickk** on December 12, 2007. 3:42 So, our visual implications artist Colten is going to do some good visual work for the site, and by that I mean, I'm gonna give him his own gallery, and blog sort of dealeo, along with it.
So look out for his Gallery!
Colten's random funny pics

Posted By: Colt_38 on December 8, 2007. 12:43 Hey people,
so I figured I'd start doing something on the website for once, you know, contribute a little content and whatnot.
So from here on in I'll be posting a new funny/cool pic on the Gallery at least once per week, no less. one shall be the number of the counting, and the number of the counting shall be one.
You know what, just for the hell of it, here, enjoy a snippet of Monty Python and the Holy Grail:
"And the Lord spake, saying, "First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin. Then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who, being naughty in my sight, shall snuff it." -Book of Armaments
The PowerEdge is up!
|
Posted By: **Nickk** on December 5, 2007. 5:20 Finally, long the long awaited SCSI hard Drives for our Dell PowerEdge have arrived, and we've installed them and got Windows Server 2008 installed on the system. We got (4) 18.2GB UltraWide3 10k Hot Swappable SCSI Drives, in drive trays.
Aside from the fact we got our drives last Thursday, and didn't tell you, we have had the server running to ensure all it's functions and stability. We have encountered only one problem, and that is Windows Server doesn't take too kindly to Hot Swap hard drives, during some of our initial testing, we got BSOD when "hot swapping" a drive.
In any case there really isn't any need for us to swap any drives, other than routine backups (We have found a temporarily solution for HDD to HDD backups until we have the swapping issue figured out.)
Site/Server work
|
Posted By: **Nickk** on November 30, 2007. 1:58 Learning that my new DNS entries were finally entered into my DNS account came as great news to me. These included an MX Record so my mail server works now, although there is a minor technical issue we need to resolve with our ISP.
In any case, I started to build the website for our new project (Tensioncore Server Platform)(tsp.tensioncore.com), as well as started setting up webmail for our employees.
Once the issue with our ISP is resolved we will be able to restore usage to all the forms on the site.
Hard Drives for our Dell Poweredge are going to be here within the week, which will allow us to start setting up Windows on the new server, and slowly take some of the services off of this machine and move them to that one.
Site Maintenance
|
Posted By: **Nickk** on November 23, 2007. 12:05 I've worked hardcore today to get some work done to the functionality of the website, unfortunately our email server is down at the moment, this takes the functionality out of all the forms on the site.
I added a nice little reminder of our favorite web browser Firefox, and its a nifty link to go straight to download it in case you don't already use it.
On the other hand, I've made the hosting section of the website much more user friendly, and added a form to contact us, but of course, it doesn't work without our mail server.
Work will begin soon to start promotion and marketing. This is going to cover a broad range of media.
Update: Session issues
|
Posted By: **Nickk** on November 20, 2007. 11:23 This is obviously a problem even though we have it under control for our own site, for our current users (thank god none use php yet), we don't want them to have to go and get security certificates, those cost money, so this is a huge inconvenience.
I'm going to work on this over the night and hopefully fix the issue.
Issues
|
Posted By: **Nickk** on November 18, 2007. 3:06 The site is currently experiencing some PHP session errors that are very odd, and unexplainable by myself.
I have however been able to continue logging in capabilities without changing any site code, with the changing of http to https, and thus making the site THAT much more secure.
I am going to start working on the UI for myself and other high level employees. (Refer to the previous post to see noted work.)
A new idea we are working on is to incorporate TaskFreak, into our work interface. This will help speed up the travel of information and work getting done for a change.
There is an image upload page at the moment, but it limits to jpg, gif and bmp. The file upload (for employees work done at home, to just upload to the file server) does not work, for an unknown reason at the time, but it's being worked on, just not a priority.
Another work in progress is the User Admin panel, I am trying to add editing options, but it's not going too well, if you are a php/mySQL coder, and would like to be a web developer for us, please send a resume, a link to a portfolio (preferably) and what areas of interest you have in working on the site to jobs@tensioncore.com (please be patient if the email does not send over the weekend, our DNS is being changed around, so the MX records may not exist temporarily.
Anyhoo I've talked enough. I'm looking forward to the next few months and working with this server.
Site Update
|
Posted By: **Nickk** on October 29, 2007. 2:05 I am working on The Site backend at the moment, getting such things implemented as What you'll see below in the news (postcount updating), and other such things as the employee file and image upload pages (which allow anyone who works on the video game or Cat Food Project to upload images directly to the database and Image gallery.
I've managed to get a few things working tonight, and in the past few nights, and I'm going to finish up the "Order Now" page tonight, but I'm going to leave the warning on it, as we are going to have our formal site launch in the coming week and a half or so.
Once I finish the Temporary Order Now page, I'm actually going to create the formal ordering page that includes payment.

Gallery Almost Release Candidate
|
Posted By: **Nickk** on October 19, 2007. 6:49 Our Image Gallery has been a big subject of user interface, we use Thickbox freeware to display the pictures over your screen, and we've concluded it works very efficiently in Internet Explorer, but the Flashbuttons protrude into the image display when viewed in Firefox. This will likely be our second to last major fix.
The caching works now, and should speed up the loading of the gallery, but we are working on loading the full size quicker.
SOOON: Official Website Launch
|
Posted By: on October 14, 2007. 5:48 I have not yet come to a set date, but It will be shortly. Stay tuned to find out when, and if you live in Vancouver, where.
Launch Will include some fancy things, likely Wine, cake, free hosting accounts, and well, lets leave the rest to our imagination.
Site Promotion to Begin
|
Posted By: **Nickk** on October 14, 2007. 2:31 Shortly.
At the moment we are limited to promotion where all exists. Meaning where we can do word of mouth promo, and forum sig's etcetera. We are going to enter into Google Adsense advertising shortly...that means when we get out SMTP server working, as well as our FTP allowing connections.
If you haven't seen into the gallery lately, we've made some improvements and it's now in Beta 2, next step is going to be making the page compatible with the flash, or just all out removing flash from the gallery page...If you don't know what I'm talking about then go look at a picture in the gallery.
We have our new Dell PowerEdge server, and it's simply awesome. Now we just need to get some hard drives for it!

Perl/CGI are now installed, and running!
Updates
|
Posted By: **Nickk** on October 7, 2007. 2:59 Server functionality is pretty good at the moment, but definitely in need of some loving.
PHP wont display a page at all under a very select few syntax/parse errors, and there doesn't seem to be much of a reason for it.
Otherwise, ASP and ASP.NET work well, but one must be sure all code is correct or the scripts will return errors. We don't have any ASP skilled people here or we'd tweek it, on another note we are open to suggestions by our users.
Perl/CGI does not yet work, even though we are running PHP via FastCGI.
The GD Library is installed in PHP, the MySQL database server is running perfectly, phpmyadmin is looking purple...by that I mean the theme, which I'd actually like to change.
Anyways, XML works as well...I'm thinking of adding in Python Support.
More updates to come...
Testing News Entry Page

Posted By: **Nickk** on October 7, 2007. 5:38 I think it works!
Phheww
|
Posted By: **Nickk** on October 5, 2007. 4:54 The FastCGI module for php finally works as we want it to. There was a major problem with it holding sessions, but someone noticed secure.sessions were enabled, but we do no use https on the default pages such as what you are reading now.
This is a big step, it was one of the major issues needed to be fixed.
The next and final issue to fix involves ftp access for users, we are not having much luck. We cannot discuss the issues here in the public threads though, a post however will be made upon the issue being resolved.
News Goes here
|
Posted By: **Nickk** on October 5th, 2007 02:46 The title may seem as a test, but it's not, this is for real now, Domain, IIS7 Go-Live License in full effect, php is running under FastCGI rather than how I had hoped on running it, via ISAPI, but I guess it's a good thing eh?
Oh and Welcome to the home of Tensioncore Hosting, Design and Studio. It's been a long time coming, and I hope you enjoy the website.
